October 2008 Archives
The Knotions Winter Preview is up. Tech editing and web site building an issue with 20+ designs has been keeping me busy. And yes, that's a roundabout way of saying the cabled hoodie didn't get finished in time for Rhinebeck. But did I mention that the preview is up? ;)

Wow, I can't believe we're just a few days away from Rhinebeck. I'm so excited that the weather is true fall weather -- last year's weather was just too warm for my taste.
Unlike past years, I don't have a list of vendors or yarns that I want to get. I think it's partly due to the size of my stash, but more likely due to the fact that I'm knitting a lot for Knotions now and most of that yarn is donated for the designs. I haven't used any yarn out of my stash since March! I keep thinking I need to organize it again and clean house, but we all know how much fun that can be (plus, the yarn will still be there next month, right?).
Now having said all that, I'm sure that I'll still come home with some yarn. I just don't have the willpower not to. As mathematical and logical as I can be at times, I know that the promise of shiny new projects in wonderful and hard-to-find yarns will just get the best of me.
BTW, if you're curious on my progress with my Rhinebeck sweater, here's a pic from yesterday.
I've made some more progress since then, but I still have quite a bit to do:
- 12" on sleeve #2
- yoke
- hood
- soak and block
If I have a chance of getting this done in time I have to finish sleeve #2 tonight. Why do I do this to myself *every* year?
I'm really cutting it close here, but I guess that's just par for the course for me and Rhinebeck. Last year I finished knitting St. Brigid's hood at 2AM in our cottage at Rhinebeck.
I have an almost-finished body, so I still have sleeves, a yoke and a hood to complete. I think I have everything planned out so I just need to knit knit knit.
And then of course there's sweater #2, a vest that I'm really looking forward to making and wearing. I think it will come together quickly but I'm fearful that I'm losing my battle with the calendar. Here's hoping I'll have enough time after work this week to get in some serious knitting time. The weather is so fall-like this year that I just *have* to get these done!
