October 2010 Archives
Only 10 months after casting on (I never would have believed it if I didn't have the date in Ravelry) I have an FO to show you.
Now that she's done I can't believe I took so long to finish. I cast on for this before my niece was born and here I am finally finished as she nears the 9 month mark! I'm absolutely smitten with her and find myself wondering who's going to have a baby next just so I can make another stuffed toy. I had a great time staging the photo shoot and plan to frame a print of the "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" triptych for Mia for Christmas.
The pattern gave lots of details on how to do the unusual parts - and there are *always* unusual parts when knitting toys. The designer gives detailed instructions and step-by-step pics for making up the eyes, attaching the arms and legs, the feet, the collar, and the embroidery for the face.
Miss Frog makes her way down to Texas next week to live with Mia. I'll admit that I'm a bit sad to see her go and I'm already looking at the next toy to knit. A few of my faves at Twins' Knitting are 22 the Alien and Titus the Monkey (although it might be nice for Titus to have clothing instead of a sleeping bag). I have lots of leftovers to use up. Did I mention how great toys are for cleaning out scraps too?
